Orthodontic dental care,is it okay to take an Advil

Tuesday, Sep. 7th 2010 8:31 AM

I am going to be getting braces.  It is the first time I ever had them.  So I would like to know does it hurt a lot when you first get braces?  If so should I take an Advil before my appointment?  How long will I hurt for?  Any advise on dental care when you have braces that I should know about.

Dental health care, sore jaw after having dental work.

Sunday, Sep. 5th 2010 8:23 AM

I had to go into the dentist for two filling and a bridge.   At the time although I was there for a long time nothing really hurt and I was doing fine.  Now two days latter my jaw is still stiff and sore.  Is this normal?  I never had this much dental work done before but I would not think my jaw should still be sore.  Advise on this please.

Dental insurance health care, getting dental crowns.

Saturday, Sep. 4th 2010 10:17 AM

I am trying to get dental insurance before I have the two root canals and crowns that I will need.  I spoke it over with my dentist and know I can not afford to have this dental work done on my own.

I have been looking at your Careington 500 dental plan that my dentist refer me to get.  He stated it is the only discount plan he on if I am wanting to say with him.  Which I do.  I would like to know does every thing start right away or are there waiting periods?

Dental care, Teeth Bonding and Whitening Treatment

Friday, Sep. 3rd 2010 10:18 AM

One of my front teeth has a small chip and a slight crack.  I have been really careful not to damage it any further but I would like to have the dentist bond the tooth so I do not have to worry so  much about it.

However I also want to whiten my teeth and I am told I should do this first.  I will be getting them whiten in the mall.  After having the whitening treatment,  how long should I wait until I go to the dentist to have my tooth bonded ?

Dental advise needed, Bad orthodontic dentist.

Thursday, Sep. 2nd 2010 10:53 AM

I am so upset and I am not sure what I can do.  For three years I had braces.  I was able to get my braces off where I was going to have just the retainer to deal with.  However when the assistant was pulling off my braces she pulled out a  perfectly healthy tooth out with the braces.    It really hurt and I was in a lot of pain.  She called my Orthodontic dentist to see what happen and he cleaned my mouth out and wired my tooth back in.  Then told me to see my dentist ASAP.

Which I did that same day and my regular dentist told me there was not much more he could do but to monitor it.   He told me it may or may not take.  He said  best case it heals in and then they may have to do a root canal on the tooth at worse it will not take and I will need a replacement he suggested and implant.

I went back to my orthodontic dentist and was told I need to wait for my retainer until the tooth heals.  They are not doing anything about it.  If I have to do any type of additional dental work I think they should have to pay for it.  My god it is their fault they ripped my tooth out in the first place.   What can I do about this?

Dental Insurance, dental care for braces.

Wednesday, Sep. 1st 2010 10:48 AM

I am twenty and just got a dental insurance that will cover for me to have basic braces.  My teeth are pretty gappy and I am wondering about how long will I need to have braces to fix the spaces in my teeth?   Since they are going to be metal I am really hoping it will not take too long to fix.

Dental Insurance health care, Chipped a tooth.

Tuesday, Aug. 31st 2010 10:45 AM

A few years back I chipped a tooth that has a white filling.  Since I do not have dental insurance I did nothing about it.  Now that same tooth is darker then the other ones next to it.  What can I do to re-lighten the tooth back up?

Dental care, Tight fitting retainers.

Monday, Aug. 30th 2010 10:37 AM

This is going out there to people that had retainers after their braces was taken off.  I just had my braces removed and now have a removable  top retainer.  I am supposed to take them off while eating but when I try to take out my retainer, it is very hard for me to do.  I feel as if I am pulling out my teeth with the stupid retainer.

I only had them now for about a week so I am not sure if they are like shoes and stretch out over time   or if it just normal for them to be this tight.  Should I go back to the orthodontic dentist or  not worry about it?

Dental health care, After care of wisdom teeth extraction

Sunday, Aug. 29th 2010 10:30 AM

I am 25 and will be having all four of my wisdom teeth pulled in two weeks.  I would like to know about how many days should I ask off  from work?  I will be having them pulled on a Wednesday and not sure if I should as for three of four days off?  Oh I do normally work Saturdays.

I know that the dentist will give me some pain killers and my job required that I do some heavy lifting and I some times do drive a fork lift.   I do not think it would be a good idea for me to go to work all loopy on pain killers.   Thanks for any advise.

Dental care, Wisdom teeth infection.

Saturday, Aug. 28th 2010 10:25 AM

My boyfriend had his wisdom teeth pulled out about seven months ago.  Everything has been fine until just the other day when the back of his mouth really started hurting and swelling up.  It looks like it may be an abscess from where one of the wisdom tooth was taken out.

He is currently in a lot of pain but his mom is telling him to wash out his mouth with Listerine.  It not helping but she does not seem to want to take him to the dentist.   What can he do?

Dental health care, Can you really brush you teeth with Jack Daniels

Friday, Aug. 27th 2010 10:11 AM

I am just wondering if you really can brush  your teeth with Jack Daniels?  My friends say yes but that because of a song by  Tik Tok Kesha.  I would think it would mess up your teeth?  Since my friends bought it up I would like to really know if it is good for your teeth or not.

Dental Care, Wobbly tooth in the back and little scared.

Wednesday, Aug. 25th 2010 9:39 AM

Please HELP.  I am 15 and I have not yet told my mom that a tooth in the back is a little wobby.  I not sure if it is still just a baby tooth coming out.  Though I think I lost all of those by now.  If I say anything to my mom she will make me go to the dentist and am terrified of going to the dentist.  Is there anything I can do to make it not be wobbly ?

Dental health care, teeth whitening and sensitive teeth.

Tuesday, Aug. 24th 2010 9:29 AM

I have yellowish teeth and would very much like to have a much whiter smile.  The question I have is my teeth have always been some what sensitive to hot and cold items.  The dentist says my teeth are find and to use sensitive toothpaste in the first week of every month and it should help me.   It does but not completely.

I heard that most teeth whitening treatment make your teeth sensitive and I am worried if I do whiten my teeth I would have a even bigger problem with sensitivity.  I been thinking about Go Smile since it says it does not cause sensitivity in teeth.  However it is $120.00  which is just too much for me right now.

I not sure what to do.  Does whitening toothpaste really work?  Or should I just save my money until I can afford to get the Go Smile product?   Advise please

What is required to buy a dental insurance plan

Monday, Aug. 23rd 2010 8:11 AM

My husband has a full time job but it does not offer any dental benefits.  I am on disability and right now we both could use some basic dental care.  If we want to buy dental insurance for the both of us does it matter if I am on disability or not?  Is there any requirements in order to buy dental  insurance?

Dental Insurance, Cosmetic dental services

Sunday, Aug. 22nd 2010 9:44 AM

I would like to know if cosmetic dental services such as teeth whitening, porcelain veneers or dental implants are covered under most dental insurance plans that are provided to you by your employer? I been seeing that to buy insurance on your own that cosmetic is not included.  So if I get dental though a job would it be covered.

Dental plans why are the bad to get ?

Thursday, Aug. 19th 2010 1:23 PM

I do not have current dental insurance and very little money.  I am told that I need some dental work on my teeth so I started looking for dental insurance.  Right now insurance seems too costly for me but a few of my friends are telling me to stay away from dental discount plans because they are all scams.   Is that so?  I can at least afford a dental discount plan and it look like I would be able to save money on the dental services I told I will need.  Please advise
