Dental care, Greying adult teeth

Friday, Sep. 24th 2010 9:12 AM

My dad is in his late fifty’s and his teeth are looking gray.  He has all his teeth and does not have any cavities but his teeth are just getting greyer as he ages.  Is that normal?  And will getting his teeth whiten help this issue?  Just wondering because if it would help I would pay for him to have whitening treatments.

Dental Implants, can anyone have them

Wednesday, Sep. 22nd 2010 9:41 AM

I really hate my teeth and seem to always get cavities and or having to have root canals done no matter how good I take care of my teeth.   So far most of my teeth have had to have filling done and I already had four root canals.   I tried of spending money on bad teeth that I feel will just keep causing me problems.

I am wondering if anyone can have dental Implants done?  I really thinking about having my teeth pulled and getting implants so I do not have to keep worrying about my teeth going bad.  Also is there any dental insurance plans that will cover such a thing?

Dental Health care, five year old with three cavities.

Monday, Sep. 20th 2010 8:51 AM

My three year old has three cavities.  I do not have dental insurance but I never really though I would need it since cleaning are cheap enough.  I thought I was taking really good care of my daughter teeth but her having three cavities is really upsetting.  I am not sure what it was I was not doing but I will need to get the filled and though I better get some dental insurance.

I need something that would start right away with no waiting period so I can fix her teeth ASAP. Also any advise on what I may be doing wrong?  I do not want her to continue getting cavities.

Dental Insurance Plan Decisions, Making the best choice for you

Sunday, Sep. 19th 2010 4:17 PM

The dental plan decision making process is not an easy task when purchasing coverage for yourself, family, business, or your employees. There are many dental plan decisions to make. Such dental insurance decisions include considering a PPO (Preferred Provider Organizations), HMO (Health Maintenance Organization), dental indemnity insurance plans, and discount dental plans.

What is PPO Dental Insurance Plans?

PPO (Preferred Provider Organizations) is a network of dentist under contact with a dental insurance company which provides special rates on dental care; but the insured has an option to choose a dental care provider outside the network of dentists.

Generally the PPO dental insurance plans are higher premiums and there are claims forms to be completed by the dental client.

What is HMO Dental Insurance Plans?

HMO (Health Maintenance Organizations) are networks of dentist under contact with the dental insurance company that offer dental services at a pre-determined rate.

With the HMO dental insurance plan, you do not have the option to choose your own dentist. However, the HMO is usually less expensive.

What is Dental Indemnity Insurance Plans?

The dental indemnity insurance plans require the insured to pay the dentist of their choice directly, and the insured will be compensated or reimbursed by the insurance company after submitting a claims form.

What is Discount Dental Plans?

A discount dental plan provides discounted dental prices through a network of dentists but is not a dental insurance company and in not an insurance dental plan and is not regulated by the department of insurance.

Periodontal (gum) disease, dental health care needed.

Sunday, Sep. 19th 2010 9:14 AM

Hello, I would like some advise please.   On Friday I went to the dentist for a normal check up and cleaning.  They did X-rays too so this all cost me a total of $225.00.  This was a lot of money for me but since I have not been to the dentist in over three years I wanted to have it done.

However I was told that I have Periodontial disease.  Which the dentist said can be treated by doing a Scaling and Root Planing (which by the way have know idea what that really is)  which would cost me a total of a little over $600.00.

Now it not that I do not have the money but it is money I really do not want to spend right now since money is tight.   How important is having this done?  I mean I have no cavities and my teeth are find.  Nothing hurts?  I just not sure if he taking me for a ride since I pay in cash.

Dental care treatment for an Impacted Tooth

Saturday, Sep. 18th 2010 8:08 AM

I have been having this one tooth in the back that has be causing me some pain.  Nothing I could not put up with but I went to see a dentist about it anyway.  I was told the pain was because of an impacted wisdom  tooth on the bottom left side of my mouth.

I am 21 so I just though that I did not get my wisdom teeth or something.  But I being told I have them but only the one is causing the current issue though he suggest pulling all since he said they may all start to cause me problems latter on.

I do not have the money to even have the one pulled let alone four.  What will happen if I do nothing for right now?  The pain is off and all so I sure  I can put it off for a while longer.

Dental health care for Diabetics, need dental care.

Friday, Sep. 17th 2010 9:56 AM

I found out about four years ago that I have diabetes.   Which now I found how is a big part of why I am always having troubles with my teeth and gums.  I do not have dental insurance but my doctor told me that since I am a diabetic I need to see the dentist more often.

So my question is kind of in two parts.  First can I get dental insurance knowing that I have diabetes or would it be consider preexisting?  Second if I can get dental insurance am I looking for a dentist that is a specialist or can any dentist help me?

PPO Dental Plans, Some Thoughts When Selecting a Plan

Thursday, Sep. 16th 2010 4:05 PM

Participants insured with a dental PPO insurance plan are responsible for paying their deductible before receiving any reimbursement.  One of the key differences between dental HMO insurance and dental PPO insurance is that DPPOs usually allow dentists to spend more time with insured patients.

Dentists in dental HMO insurance plans are expected to see a certain number of patients, so some dentists have been known to rush through dental appointments.  A PPO dental insurance plan consists of numerous dentists that sign up to join a network insurance system or group with hopes that they will have many patients to service.  When subscribers join a PPO dental plan, they benefit from lower out-of-pocket costs when they see one of the network dentists.

Dental Health care, BPA derivatives in dental sealants is it save for kids

Thursday, Sep. 16th 2010 10:31 AM

I have a four year old with week tooth enamel and my dentist said to help avoid getting cavities I should have him get dental sealants.  He had already had two cavities and had to have the filled.

I sounds like a good idea and I told him I would think it over and get back with him.  One of my work friends said that I should not get dental sealants because they are not really all that good because of BPA derivatives may cause problems latter on.

Truthfully he is a know it all and I did not spend much time tyring to search thing out about this.  Is it really worth worrying about?  I do not want my son to keep getting cavities  so I am still thinking about having the sealants.

Deductibles and Coinsurance, Typical with a PPO Dental Insurance Plans

Sunday, Sep. 12th 2010 4:00 PM

With a PPO dental insurance plan you will usually have a deductible and a coinsurance amount.  In some cases, PPO dental plans will give you an option to seek dental treatment outside of the directory of dentists.  If your PPO dental plan provides this option, you will most likely be required to pay a higher coinsurance and your maximum payable benefits amount may also be greatly reduced for treatments outside of the network.

At DentalInsuranceHealthcare.com we offer many different PPOs as well as HMO and dental discount plans depending on the state you live in.  Get your free dental quote today just by entering you zip code in the box towards the top of the screen.

Dental health care, the importance of good oral hygiene

Sunday, Sep. 12th 2010 10:07 AM

A friend of my has very bad oral hygiene.  I do not understand why it is he seems not to take basic care of his teeth.  On top of it he is a smoker so he has bad breath.  This is starting to become an issue with me because it is no fun hanging with someone that breath stinks.

Beside his teeth he is a nice guy so I like to get him to take better care of his oral health.  Is there any good tips you can give to me on getting him to brush and floss better.  I not sure if he even goes to the dentist.  I either talk to him about this issue or I will start pulling back from our friendship.  Before that happens I would like to at least address it with him.

Dental health care, dental services for aids patient

Friday, Sep. 10th 2010 8:38 AM

Please give me helpful advise I can pass onto my friend.    My friend was told he has aids over four years ago.  All things consider he is in good health and spirits.  He has a wonderful health care and he love his doctors.

The problem is he has not seen a dentist since he was told about having aids.  His teeth are starting to give him issues but he worries about how he will be treated.   He did have a bad phone experience once when he called a dental office about treatment.  (Too long to get into what happen but it made him feel really bad)

Are there dentist that know how to deal better and treat aids patients without making them feel bad?   I tell him that it was only one dental office and he should still try to see about others.  I would love to give his some good advise on how to look for a good dentist.

Dental health care, Bad teeth do to past drug usage

Thursday, Sep. 9th 2010 9:22 AM

I am in my thirties  and when I was younger I use to do drugs.  Although I have been off drugs  for some few years. My teeth are really bad due to my prior drug usage.  I think I really made my teeth week or something because I feel they are just  getting worse as time passes.

I just broke a part of my back tooth off yesterday.  I have no money since I only have my part time fast food job, while I am taking a office job training classes.   I do not want to ask for help from my parents since I put them though a lot  and I am now just showing how I can take care of myself.

What can I do to get some dental help so that wen I do start looking for an office clerk job I will have at least a half way better smile then what I do now.
