Dental Heath care in Rhode Island, My Jaw is locking. In the morning I can not open my jaw all the way. That has been going on for years but since it was only in the morning for a short period of time I did not make a big deal about it.
Now however it a feeling that last longer and I notice even in the afternoon my jaw seems to be locking up or getting stiff. I am also having some pain when this happens. I do not know what is causing my jaw to do this. Should I see a dentist? Can they help me?

New Hampshire dental care, TMJ and mouthguards issues: I have TMJ and my dentist had a custom made mouthguard fitted for me to ware at night when I go to bed. I had it for about three days but is it normal for my front few teeth to hurt?
I am not sure is this normal or if the fit is off and I need a new one to be made. Should I stop wearing it until I am able to get back to see my dentist? Or keep wearing it until I see my dentist. I have another dental appointment in three weeks. Thanks for any advise.

I think I may have TMJ but I really do not know much about it. I hear that if your jaw is stiff and pops or you have cracking feeling in your jaw. I get that in the morings all the time. Sometimes my jaw is sore too for a while. Can some one tell me more about TMJ and what it is?
