Dental Insurance, Options For Dental Fillings

How Much Is It Going To Cost Me?  The Cost of Dental Fillings

The cost of dental fillings depends on a variety of factors, including: The dentist who performs the procedure. There are several important factors you and your dentist must consider before determining how much your dental fillings will cost based upon the Severity of Damage. Fillings cost between $50 and $300 depending where you live, and the filling material (amalgam or composite) used.

Fillings Type of Filling Dental amalgam also known as silver filling is the least expensive type of filling. Tooth-colored composite resin fillings are more pleasing to the eye but are more expensive than dental amalgam fillings. As composite resin fillings are more time consuming they are more expensive than amalgam fillings.

Although costs vary across the country and by dental office, the cost of typical metal filling ranges from approximately $75 to $145 per filling, whereas a composite resin fillings range from $150 to $200 for a single surface white composite filling. Inlays and onlays weaken the tooth structure, but do so to a much lower extent than traditional fillings. Inlays are similar to fillings but the entire work lies within the cusps (bumps) on the chewing surface of the tooth.

Insurance and Cosmetic Dental Care

Cosmetic dentistry may help you to get your best smile at any age.  One of the most popular cosmetic dental procedures to a perfect smile is bonding.  Cosmetic dental bonding is a fairly painless procedure usually performed in one dental visit by applying an enamel like material to your teeth which is then shaped, hardened with a special light and polished.

For a more dramatic smile, porcelain veneers can make a drastic difference. With veneers, you can control the color, position, shape, and size of your new teeth which can correct crooked, worn, or chipped teeth. This procedure can cost between $1,200 – $3,500 per tooth.

Cosmetic dentistry insurance coverage is not afforded by most dental insurance companies. If you are with a group dental insurance company through your employer, you may want to inquire if cosmetic dentistry insurance coverage is provided under your dental plan.

Cosmetic dental coverage is normally provided by discount dental plans. Discount dental plans usually cover 15 to 20 percent of the cosmetic dental care cost.

Thursday, Dec. 1st 2016 6:16 AM

Under COBRA, as a former employee no longer receiving benefits, you will usually pay the entire premium amount, that is, the portion of the premium that you paid as an active employee and the amount of the contribution made by your employer.

In 1986, The Consolidation Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA) was made into a law giving employees the chance to enjoy their company-sponsored health benefits even after they have severed ties with that company.  Also we only need to notify employees who have been laid off who elected to enroll in our benefits program, employees who did not elect are not eligible to be covered now correct.  The benefits offered under COBRA should be the same as the coverage the current employees have, and usually the same as the coverage the employee had prior to COBRA.  Helping to plan and administer health, life, dental and other benefits for both groups and individuals.

Dental Insurance Healthcare, Do Not Use Your Teeth as Tools.

Monday, Nov. 21st 2016 9:44 AM

I am sure many people at one time or another use their teeth to open a wrapper or to bite off a stubborn tag on a new shirt.  However if you are wanting to keep your teeth looking great then stop using your teeth as tools. Using your teeth in such a way can damage your teeth. You can easily crack or chip your teeth or cause poor jaw alignment  by wearing down your teeth unevenly. You also want to avoid using your teeth as hands. Do not hold items in your mouth even for a short time. Do not chew on items such as pens and pencils. You may have been told a a kid not to chew on your ice or you can chip your tooth, well that still rings true. Chewing on ice or using your teeth to crack open nuts, or biting on your finger nails all can lead to distorted teeth.

Ways to clean your teeth and reduce cavities.

Studies have suggested that dental hygiene remains at the bottom of the health care duties compared to taking a bath or washing your hair.

How often should I brush my teeth?  Brush your teeth with a fluoride toothpaste at least twice a day for 2-3 minutes, especially before bedtime.

How to reduce gum disease and tooth decay? Flossing your teeth helps remove plaque in between your teeth where a toothbrush cannot reach. Mouthwash helps reduce bacteria in your mouth which helps to reduce tooth decay. Be sure to visit your dentist every six months for a professional teeth cleaning.
