Getting a Second Dental Plan
Question: The dental insurance that I have currently though my job as a 1000.00 year max per person. Which is really not much coverage when you need more the two cleanings a year. My wife needs to have a few crowns with in the next year and she would like it all to be done around the same time but we will max the limit of our coverages. If I get a second dental plan will this be helpful to us or not? I was thinking there maybe a supplemental dental that we could pick up where it would make some sense for us.
Reply: You would first need to find a dentist that takes your current dental plan and whatever plan you are thinking about getting. Keep in mind plans that let you choose your own dentist like PPO and Indemnity plans will also come with long term waiting periods for the crowns your wife needs.
That said if you can find a dentist that is willing to combine your current PPO plan with an HMO or a dental discount plan you may be better off. The more you can reduce your cost being billed off to your current dental insurance the longer your max limitation will last you as well as you saving money. However I will state that I do not think many dentist would be willing to combine these type of plans with a PPO but nothing wrong with asking

Dental Insurance Health Care, What is a Periodontist
Sunday, Jun. 11th 2017 7:42 AM
Question: I went to the dentist the other day and I had no cavities which I though was good since I have not seen a dentist in many years prior to this point. I was told by the dentist that I do have gum disease and that I need to see a Periodontist.
Why would I need to see a Periodontist? I am not too sure what that is but I am guessing it has to do with my gums. Why can not the dentist just do a deep cleaning that I thought you would get when people have gum issues.
I do not have dental insurance and I know if I go to one of those Periodontist people it will cost me way more then I can afford. Is it really all that important that I go? After all my teeth are just fine and my gums do not hurt me.
Reply: One thing you may want to keep in mind is that when you go to a dentist the dentist is not thinking about whether or not you can afford to do what they suggest to you.
The dentist is telling you only what he/she feel is the best thing for your oral health care. One would not refer you to a specialist if they did not believe that would be the best thing for you.
At some point you need to tell the dentist that you can not afford to go to a specialist right now so you need to do the next best thing.
The dentist may tell you how important it is to see a specialist, however if comes down to it they know it would be better for them to do what you can afford to have done then for you to do nothing at all.
Dentist are not mind readers if you do not explain to them what you can and can not afford to do then do not get upset because they are telling you something that is costly and you can not afford it.

Caring for Your Baby’s Dental Health.
Wednesday, May. 31st 2017 9:07 AM
Even before your child’s first tooth appears, their gums can benefit from your careful attention. After feeding your baby, wrap your finger with a damp washcloth and gently rub across your baby’s gums. By doing so will help keep their gums clean as well as reinforce the habit making brushing their teeth easier for you and your baby as their teeth come in.
Around six months your baby first tooth will start to come in, during the next three years the rest of the primary teeth will come in. When your baby first tooth erupts it will be time to up grade to a baby toothbrush. However, At this stage, toothpaste isn’t necessary; just dip the brush in water before brushing.
As a few more teeth appear, you can start using toothpaste with your child’s brush. Though for the first two years, be sure to choose toothpaste that does not contain fluoride, unless advised to do so otherwise by your child dentist. Teach your child how to spit out the toothpaste after brushing in order to prepare him or her for future use of fluoride toothpaste, which should not be swallowed at any age. A baby should see a dentist once they cut their first tooth. Early dental visits is the foundation for a lifetime of good oral health. The earlier the dental visit, the better the chance of preventing dental disease and helping your child build a cavity-free smile.

Toothache pain will not stop need help in California
Question: I have a really bad toothache that I have been putting up with for months now. However I think it gotten past the point of no return. I am in so much pain that I can not sleep. I tried calling a few dentist to see about a payment plan but I either can not have one or if the do offer one it only to people that have insurance.
Reply: There is no good reason to put up with a toothache. As you can see they do not go away and only get worse. Now since you are in such pain you will need to get a dental plan that will act quickly.
My advise would be looking at any of the dental discount plans we have to offer on our website. Since they are effective within the next business day of buying the plan. That way you can have your tooth fixed at a more affordable cost to you. You will still need to call the plan network of dentists and see if you can find one that is also willing to offer you a payment plan. You may be able to find one that does if you are part of the plan.
Another option would be and HMO insurance option as they do have an enrollement date for the plan to be effective the first of the next month but they do not have any waiting periods. That at this time is what you will deffentlly need in order to help fix the tooth that is hurting you
