Management and the Importance of Maintaining Good Oral Health.

19/10/17

While healthcare continues to evolve, new research confirms that having good oral health is integral part of having good general health. Studies has found that this link is even more important for any person living with diabetes. According to the American Diabetes Association emerging research suggests that the relationship between serious gum disease and diabetes is twofold.

Not only are people with diabetes prone to gum disease, but gum disease may potentially affect blood glucose control which contributes to the progression of diabetic conditions or diabetes complications. Therefore if you have diabetes and are not taking proper care of your teeth and gums you may increase your chances of diabetes complications.

Dental Health Care, Pros and Cons to using a Water Piks

23/03/11

Dental Health Care, Pros and Cons to using a Water Piks:  When thinking about using a water pik instead of flossing here are some good pros and cons to consider.

Pros:

Water piks are effective, and faster to use the flossing.

Water Piks come with multiple wands in different  colors

Great for braces,  Flossing with braces can be difficult water piks are often suggested by Orthodontic dentist.

They come with  adjustable water pressure.

Cordless water piks are available.

Water piks are good for people that may not floss well.

Anything that will make you take care of your teeth and gums better is helpful.

Cons:

Cost can be a factor since they can run as high as $50 – $60 dollars.

They do brake down some not even lasting a year depending on how well you take care of it.

Hard to always see what you are doing which can cause you to make a mess.   Si if you are not careful the time you save in flossing is taken up by have to clean sink and counter tops from water mess.

They can be too noisy.

Water piks take up to much counter space which is bad if you have a small bathroom.

If you are not careful they may over time loosen bridge and crown work.

Over use like anything can cause more harm then good so make sure you use as directed.

If you are not sure what is best for your oral health care talk to your dentist see what they suggest. Having good advise from your own personal dentist is worth taking in and thinking about as a deciding factor

Dental Health care, Does bad teeth effect your health

18/07/10

I was told from someone I can remember who told me but any way I was told that if you have bad teeth you can have other health problems.   Is that really true?  My teeth are okay I do not think anything is wrong with them since they do not bother me but when I told my friend that I have not seen the dentist in four years she made it sound really bad.

It kinda bugged me. It is not like I have money to go to the dentist all the time. And she not paying my bills.  But if having bad teeth can also effect my health should I be worried if my teeth seem to be okay to me.

Do orange peels or banana peels whiten teeth?

28/06/10

All the researched I have put into this question and questions like this seems to me comes down to this. Although all the home remedies that are listed may help to whiten your teeth only a dentist can get your teeth the whitest.

Here are some suggested home remedy that may help to whiten your teeth.

1)Brushing with Lemon Juice
2)Brushing with Baking Soda
3)Brushing with Hydrogen Peroxide
4)Brushing with Salt
5)Rubbing Strawberries on your teeth then Brushing off.
6) Orange Peels
7) Banana Peels

All though the above may help whiten your teeth they can do damage as well. They contain sugar and acids and are abrasive, all of which can damaged your enamel that helps protects your teeth

I can understand with all that been said that many people can not afford to go to the dentist to whiten their teeth. I would advise if you are going to try any home remedy to understand that you run the risk of doing more damage to your teeth in the along run.

Trying looking into some of the over counter products that are not so costly. Like tooth paste with whiting, mouth wash with whiting, gum with whiting. Maybe even just speak to your dentist and get advise on what he/she may advise for you. A good dentist will advise you on what you can use to help whiten your teeth. They may still tell you only they can do it the best (which would be true) but they still will tell you other ways if asked.

I hope this has helped you

How much are tooth extractions

27/06/10

I always recommend you to speak to the dentist that is doing the work and ask him/her any questions you may have before and after. Not only does that help you in understanding what is expected from you but helps the dentist in treating you. They normally will give you some type of care instructions that they feel is right for you

I hope this has help you.
